Liberal Texas Democrat Running For US Senate In Texas

State Representative James Talarico (D-TX), out of Austin, Texas is set to make a run for one of Texas’ U.S. Senate seats. Talarico is currently serving his 4th term in the Texas House, but he has his eyes set on Senator John Cornyn's seat in the Senate.

Talarico is a 36-year old rising star in the Democratic Party and has been making headlines in the recent months. With appearances on the popular podcast The Joe Rogan Experience and over 1 million followers on his TikTok, he is making a new for himself nationally among Democrats.

Rep. Talarico was a school teacher for a few years before making the full time move into politics. He joins state Representative, Collin Allred (D-TX), in the race for Senator Cornys’s seat. Cornyn has held his seat in the US Senate since 2002.

While Talarico is gaining mass popularity among Democrats, his controversial takes in education and even religion, make him unpopular among conservatives in the state.
