Elected Republican Abandoned His District, Now Its Turned Blue
Texas just lost a Republican Senate seat in a runoff, in a district President Trump won by 17 points in 2024.
Former state senator Kelly Hancock abandoned Senate District 9 to chase the Comptroller job, choosing personal ambition over the party and the state, and in the process flipped the seat blue.
Now nearly half a million Texans are represented by a Democrat.
