Elected Republican Abandoned His District, Now Its Turned Blue

Texas just lost a Republican Senate seat in a runoff, in a district President Trump won by 17 points in 2024.

Former state senator Kelly Hancock abandoned Senate District 9 to chase the Comptroller job, choosing personal ambition over the party and the state, and in the process flipped the seat blue.

Now nearly half a million Texans are represented by a Democrat.
