Should Governor Abbott Veto SB 3?

Governor Greg Abbott has until Sunday to sign or veto Senate Bill 3 (SB 3), which proposes a ban on hemp-derived THC products like Delta-8 and Delta-9 in Texas.

Last month, the Texas House passed the controversial bill in a 95-44 vote.

If signed into law by Governor Abbott, adults caught with possession of THC could face up to a year in prison.

Lawmakers have stated their concerns with THC over the fact that thousands of smoke and vape shops have been opening within a 2-mile radius of middle schools and high schools.

Those opposed to the new bill state that THC is valuable to the elderly, veterans, and the disabled community to help manage pain and anxiety.
