Texas Signs Transgender Bathroom Bill Into Law

On Monday, Governor Greg Abbott signed Senate Bill 8 into law. This bill bans transgender individuals from using the bathroom that aligns with their “gender identity.”

This new law will require individuals to use the bathroom that aligns with their biological sex in both schools and government buildings.

Locations and buildings in violation of this new will face a $25,000 fine for the first offense, and up to $125,000 fines for subsequent offenses.

Governor Abbott stated on X that this was a “common sense public safety issue.”
