Texas House Passes Bill That Strictly Defines Men and Women

The Texas House recently passed House Bill 229, otherwise known as “The Women’s Bill of Rights” in an 87-56 vote this past Monday. This bill strictly defines what a man and a women are, recognizing biological reality.

This law would define sex based on the reproductive organs an individual was born with. It would also require state documents, and policies and procedures to comply with this truth.

Once this bill is officially signed into law, transgender individuals statewide would have to be defined/categorized by their natural sex. Regardless if they’ve already made legal changes to their birth certificate or driver’s license.

One of the authors of the bill, Rep. Ellen Troxclair (R-TX) stated the following about the the bill. “Texas knows what a woman is and we are ready to protect them.”

Now that HB-229 has passed in the House, it will make it’s way to the Senate for another round of voting before it’s sent to Governor Abbott's office.
